Flight of the angel
Butler Stories by Maya Beus for St. Regis
“When the hotel was renovated in 2011, the stained glass angel who had looked down from the ceiling of the Winter Garden since the 18th century, had to be moved. Assisted by many careful, prayerful hands, she flew to the window of the hotel art gallery, where she seems very happy. An astonishing chandelier of Murano glass, weighing 550 kilos, was then assembled piece by piece in the centre of the Winter Garden ceiling, where it hangs to this day.”
When you pass by the lobby you can admire the beautiful art gallery with the stained glass angel on the window. Have a close look and read the initial name of The St. Regis Florence being hold by the angel - taking you back in time to the Grand Hotel.
Continue straight to the Winter Garden, where the 550kg glass chandelier is ready to take your breath away. A masterpiece of Murano's glass makers.
